Truck towed like a champ. Barely struggled up the steeper roads and averaged 15.9 MPG on a short 1 hour drive. Trailer weight is about 3800 loaded. At 1st I was worried. When we took of from the storage unit to the gas station, the truck bounced and the trailer swayed. However, once we got there, found out the left tire was way low on air pressure. Goes to show the importance of properly inflated tires. Towed just fine after that. Definitely doesn’t feel as solid as towing with a full size, but considering the soft suspension on the ZR2, I couldn’t be happier.

I have no problem taking it anywhere from the beach on South Padre National seashore, to the steep grades in Colorado.

I do plan on putting the Green Diesel tune on in the next couple of weeks, which I expect will give it just that extra little bit that it needs.

I just purchased the same trailer and will be picking it up from the dealer on the 31st. How do you like it? I looked at the Rpod, Minnie Drop, and the Hummingbird. The final determiner for me was the Jayco dealer here only orders the Baja Editions which has the insulated tanks, the others don't even have it as an option.

Just wondering why you didn't get the long bed, considering you're towing a travel trailer?

Several points:
1 - amazing the difference reported between a ZR2 and an LT or Z71 when it comes to towing...that trailer wouldn't feel much different from a full size on my LT setup...and point 2 factors in too...

2 - Get the truck you want, but the CCLB gives a longer wheelbase making it feel more stable when towing...and short beds look awkward, I like my truck looking like a truck and able to haul all my things in the back...heck, if there were an 8' bed option I'd have considered it!

3 - That size trailer would be great for the diesel setup I imagine...3800# but a sail for aerodynamics means you're in good hands with the 2.8!
