2.8 Duramax Colorado/ Canyon for Truck Pulling?

Think we'll ever see anyone brave enough to pull their 2.8 or put money into it to build it up and enter it in a truck pull? I wouldn't mind seeing how they would do.

Have been going to a lot of the local diesel pickup truck pulls lately watching some friends from work pull their trucks. They all have full-size Duramax's of varying years and degree's of modification done to them. Most of them pull in the street stock class (can't have bigger turbo or injectors or anything like that, but you can have a tuner, bigger turbo wheel inside stock housing, beefed up tie rods) and are their daily drivers and have stock transmissions.

They all do really well. Most pulls we go to, if there are 20 trucks, the guys I know usually place in the top 3 to 5 trucks. They help each other work on the trucks and generally beat everyone. Together they have a lot of knowledge on how to pull really good, consistently. Here's the video of the one boy I work with, with his 2007 Silverado 2500HD LBZ:

Would be cool to see, but it will be a while until we see that. Trans isn't tough enough for that abuse and the truck only weighs 4700lb

We will need to have someone come out with beef trans kits before that kind of abuse is ok
Indeed. I did post this question on that facebook group as well, and one guy responded and said he was going to pull his truck at the last pull locally around where I live, but it was in the shop. Now, he didn't say if it was a full size truck, since that's what my video is, or if it was his Colorado/ Canyon being as that was my actual question. Kind of hoping to see if I don't see a little Colorado/ Canyon pull at one of the upcoming pulls in the next few months around here. If I see one, I'll video and post it =)
That would be sweet.

The most abuse I can really stand to give mine is drag racing in tune 2 whilst towing. With 800lb of tongue weight on a 5600lb trailer it'll spin both rear tires and go
I think if trans start failing a company like revmax or Midwest will probably come up with a kit. Till we start seeing them fail, I doubt kits will be made.
Well I believe we share a trans with the camaro and cts and those guys are hopping up their motors as well. It's a GM trans, I feel confident that there will be plenty of support by the time I wear mine out
Our transmission tech said he hasn't had to tear a 6l50 down as long as he has been here, but he has said that the torque converters do go out. if you feel a shudder in your transmission between 1500 and 1800 rpms, I would suggest either letting off, or applying more throttle to downshift. from the discussions ive had with him, the torque converter is the only issue, and im sure once the truck is tuned, it wont be as much of an issue since it forces the torque converter to lock up sooner.

Heck, the most abuse I put on my truck is letting the kids eat in the back seat...
