  • My RG Colorado 2.8 litre duramax has an engine light on and runs really rough service ESC comes up on dash and it's slightly car goes into limp mode until you pull over turn it off and let it reset I took it to him again they put a diagnostic tool on it and it through up to injector to fault codes and an exhaust gas temperature code. Has anybody else had the same problem or a similar one?

  • Yes, there have been instances of injector failure. I think it is pretty critical to use an good fuel lube/cleaning additive with these modern high pressure common rail systems when they are fed ULSD fuel.

Do not run the truck at all, have it looked at. A failed injector can damage the affected cylinder's piston.

At 20K, I had ck engine and stabilitrak lights come on with no feel, sound or anything else happening. Engine was running great. I took it into the local GMC store the next day. According to the shop, the codes thrown indicated misfires on injectors 3 and 4. Both replaced under warranty with, according to the Service Manager, a different (improved?) injector.

No issues since then, and I am at 56K now. Since buying the truck new, 95+% of my fuelings have been with 10 oz of Power Service Diesel Kleen and I change the fuel filters on schedule so I don't think fuel is the issue, I hope.

Same for me Stream, I picked up my truck about 100 miles from home. That trip was the only trip without running an additive. It has been Opti-lube since then every fill up, so if it goes nuclear at least I know I tried. I definitely notice a quieter smoother idle as soon as I put it in the tank and I was sold from that point on.
