Has anyone put a DPF-back exhaust on their truck? I want to put an exhaust but I don't want to void my warranty or set of any engine lights. any suggestions?

has anyone checked into the magnaflow exhaust? it sounds pretty legit, didnt know if anyone else had any experience with them

I have used their products on another truck, a CAT BACK 4" pipe on my 02 GMC 2500 HD with a 496ci. The pipe was made well, the hangers were placed exactly where they needed to be and the sound was pretty awesome.
AFE has a couple options:

They have a sound clip of the Rebel. But, it exits in front of the rear wheels so it won't work if you have step bars. The Large bore actually looks pretty nice. I would like to hear it to see how it sounds.
Since I am lazy and have not yet looked, has anyone already confirmed the warranty booklet says the warranty will be void if the exhaust is modified or replaced? I signed a document at the dealership promising not to modify the exhaust. I have signed the same form for every car purchased in FL (Golf, BMW, MB, Touareg) Yet there is already precedence on the legality of action against the consumer for aftermarket parts...Interestingly though, dealers routinely make major modification to new vehicles, truck predominantly, to attract red blooded American males and those mods include aftermarket lifts, wheels, exhaust, lights etc...I wonder how the warranty issue works in those instances.
I was told by my dealership that if I put an aftermarket exhaust on , it would void the warranty (technically) but if you keep the stock muffler and put it back on before work is done on the truck then it would be ok...
Just read it. it suggests that you shouldn't and that it can cause malfunctionserious that won't be covered. that being said, I just put a dpf back magnaflow on my truck. quicker pickup (likely from less back pressure) and a much more attractive turbo whistle. not much difference in the exhaust note but it feels a little peppier. no difference in mileage and no engine lights. still Regens just fine and it has a semi effective exhaust cooler built in

Can you make a sound clip?

I will not believe you did this unless we get to hear it!!
Did it really make any difference? It is just a pipe, there is no muffler on these trucks. Interested to find out what difference there is.

If you want to hear/ see how a straight pipe performs and sounds on them, go to the Tuning section of the forum and look for the thread, "I went ahead and pulled the trigger" by mrbones. He put a tuner on his and deleted the exhaust in favor of a turbo-back system with no muffler. Sounds and seems to run pretty good.

That is pretty cool stuff right in there, especially how he is able to get more mpg out of it.

I was wondering, in this thread, if the dpf back does anything for sound or performance
not that I am by any means an expert in diesel trucks, but I just can't see how an after DPF exhaust would do anything other than change the way the tips look. How there could be any performance or sound changes is beyond my comprehension considering there is no flow change what so ever. If I am missing something, please let me know I love to learn new things.

Still interested to see what the difference is. These trucks don't have a muffler, so are you just swapping a pipe for looks?

Not hating, you don't have to justify your purchase to me, just wondering.
unless the pipe diameter is drastically different I just don't see there being any difference what so ever.
I put the magnaflow system on mine and within 4000 miles the dpf wouldn’t regenerate and the truck went into limp mode.

The dealer ran every test they could and were unable to preform a forced regeneration. They ended up replacing the dpf under warranty, but attributed the failure to a lack of back pressure due to the larger piping. They warned that if I reinstalled the system and had the problem again that warranty would not cover the repair.

I wouldn’t recommend tampering with the exhaust system or emissions systems.

Your right. There is no muffler on these so cat back doesnt do ****. What some may call a muffler is is there dpf. Without a delete that stays.
