On my last half dozen or so fill ups, I have noticed there are differences in the color of diesel fuel. Sometimes it is a bit yellow, other times it is crystal clear. Anyone know why? Generally speaking, it seems the “cheap“ places like Murphy it is yellow, and the “better” places like Quiktrip and BP it is clear. Is the clear stuff better?

I notice as when on long trips I always slowly pump in more fuel to top it off with the nozzle slightly pulled away so I can watch it fill in the neck.

Typically I see fuel that is slightly yellow/green, kinda like Mountain Dew, or a pretty bluish color. As long as it is not degraded and does not have water in it, I am good. The color varies depending on the oil and the refinery the fuel was produced in, and also how it is blended with other fuels at the "rack".

Here is an article on fuel color. I would not worry about it.
