DPF Reliability

Reads about lots of problems with the DPF. Wondering if there are any owners out there who have NOT had any issues and what their mileage is.

mine went out at 14k. Don’t really want to deal with this on an annual basis.
Thanks for the info

It's not common that they go out so soon. Thats rare. Typically they should go to...150k plus mile I would think with no issues. Using the proper oil is critical in keeping ash/ soot content at the proper levels. Use a non certified oil for our trucks while you still have the DPF on and you'll have issues; it will gum it up really quick. So, either that happened to you or you got a bad apple right off the bat.
mine went out at 3.5K but it sounds like that was caused by bad sensors and the wrong settings which caused too infrequent regens. am at 42K now and have not had any more problems with the emissions system.

Mine went out at 38,000
How many miles do you have on the truck now?

From perusal of this thread and one other, the name of the game seems to be finding and stopping intake system leaks. They blow out air, and result in rich mixtures. How do we practically check for these?

39000 and no issues. I was reading up on dexos 2 oil. One of the claims was that it does not harm dpf. I wonder how many of those with problems are not using dexos2?
62,000 and no problems.
2009 Sierra 2500 168K miles w/ no DPF issues
2014 Cruze Diesel 98K miles w/ no DPF issues
2018 Colorado ZR2 Diesel 45K miles w/ no DPF issues

One factor may be the high percentage of highway miles on each. They have no problem regenning when needed.
160,000
Two issues. Heated tube went bad about 70,000 and I had the fill hose get crystallized and I cleaned that out myself.
nothing else

It’s still hard to find dexos2 aftermarket

I wouldn't be surprised if it was oil related. None of the quick lube shops near me even stock a dexos2 oil, they all though the shell rotella stuff would be fine. I know there were rumors right after product launch of even the dealers putting the wrong oil in because they didn't have dexos 2 on hand.

Sucks to have to think this way, but, because I have no faith in any shop that's why I do all of my own maintenance.

Finally the day has come. 248K on my 2016 and truck quit running because of emissions. Vehicle was towed to dealership and the next day received the bad news that DPF needs to be replaced ($2-$3K) and about $4k with labor. Problem is that dealer (Roseville, CA) having trouble finding DPF anywhere. Haven't heard from them since Monday. Done all my own oil changes with Dexos 2 bought from dealership at 7.5K intervals. Four months ago had the nox sensors replaced. Love the truck, but the emissions have always been a pain in the butt.

You did well, very well, DPF normally goes at 80,000 I have 160 k on mine and replaced it twice. 2 k is correct but only couple hundred to replace. Any more and the dealer is ripping you off
You probably didn’t need the NOx sensor like was the DPF failing
