Thought I would share. This relocates the DRL from the headlights to the turn signals/parking lights in the front. Can be setup for HID and LED switchbacks. I'm going with the stock headlights with LED switchbacks option (built in resistors). Also if you use the coupon "bluetruck" you get 15% on checkout.

The LED switchbacks I bought are here:

They are pricy, but this seems to be a very popular and reliable company.

I'll post up pictures when I get them and install them.

Installed the DRL relocation wiring today. Easiest install I've ever done and only took 20 minutes. The hardest part is probably putting the bulb covers back on. They don't need to come off, but if you do you get much more room to work with.

I placed the wiring across the top of the radiator, running under the two top mounts.

Above I put three zip ties around the relay bracket and secured them to the good latch cable. Seems pretty stable/secure so I'll probably leave it there.

These old bulbs are going immediately into the trash. And last but not least

I had a video of the flashers working, but can't upload it. Honestly, this is the way the truck should have came from factory. Much better look and extenze the actual headlight bulb life that was the DRL.

As for install I found a YouTube video and followed it. It explains it well enough.

really like this idea. I might have to give it a go. So does anyone know what it is that they are doing with the harness? How does it take the prevent the headlights from coming on with DRL and still working with normal headlights? It is a voltage thing?

It must have something to do with the wiring of the harness itself and the relays that they are wired to.

This is about as good as a picture of the relays I can get without ripping everything back out. If you had a wiring diagram and pretty good at electrical stuff, you could probably fab a harness like this up.

Didn't have to connect to the battery. That's the HID harness that's does that and you have three relays, not two. It's plug and play. Just unconnect the main harness from the light harness and plug in the DRL relocation harness. The video I posted explains it pretty well.

I really want to do this mod because it drives me nuts that my headlights are on all the time.

But then I'll want switchbacks cuz I've had them before and they're sexy

But then I will have led drls and I don't want my lights mis matched

Then I might as well go hid

So basically this mod will cost me like $500 lol

Don't forget the lights in the rear. Each tail light would cost around $145 (including resistors and backup LED) to do if you choose the brightest LEDs. Then you have the 3rd brake light and license plate LEDs.

So another $400-500 there lol :)

Do you know what wires on the harness get the resistors if you want to add the switchbacks to a non resistor harness.
I guess does anyone know the color of the wires that they tapped into? I have a friend that has the non led switchback harness and he wants to add the resistors to it.
I know he could splice across the turn signal wires on the factory harness near the bulbs, but he wants to splice them in on the Gen5DIY harness that he already has. Thanks

Cowboy, Attach to the yellow and the black wire right beside it and you are good to go!
