hey everyone. Are there any new add ones for this motor other than tuning. I’ve been wanting to get some more power but there’s a huge lack of aftermarket parts. Any update with turbos, intercoolers, trans, etc

Not sure that level of rw power is being ran safely on tune alone. I’ll rephrase. Looking to get more power and/or improvements in other ways than tunes. Turbos, ic, trans mods, coolers etc. Call me crazy on wanting to look for more options on mods. The aftermarket hasn’t dropped something new in a while and just seeing if anyone has seen something. I know duramaxtuner scratched their turbo idea. So yeah wanting to ask

Gde did a nice comparison of their tune to some other tunes to show how safe their tune was (and how unsafe others were) I trust the gde tune to be safe. I hope Duramaxtuner is safe but Duramaxtuner wasn’t part of that comparison, unfortunately.

I think the max rear wheel power claim of the Duramaxtuner is ~460lb/ft I imagine that’s 480 or so at the crank because that’s the trans rating they’re going off of

regardless, if your willing to tune it that high, Which I don't think anyone in any company can say is 100% safe......youre definitely not towing with it at all and youre prob going to strain your emissions system. Nothing wrong with wanting to see if anyones heard of some turbo, studs, intercooler, trans upgrades. Parts that refine the truck and make it run "better" not just more hp/tq

I wish there were some trans upgrades out there.

When a simple tune will get you to power levels that are maxing out the trans then there’s no point in looking for any more power until there are beefy trans options.

YES YES YES......Trans upgrades would be awesome. Only thing thats out there is a tune though. I'd love to see some little emissions compliant turbo upgrade and maybe some studs.....Get the power a little smoother and cleaner. I know CX racing has an intercooler kit, but I haven't seen one person install it. Doesn't mean anything good or bad....I would love to see some feedback

BTW I love everything about this truck except the transmission. Its not horrible, but is not nearly as good as it should be.

My biggest complaint would be the turbo lag... it drives me crazy sometimes. And the slow to react transmission just makes it worse! I keep hoping that someday I will see a fix (I have heard of other vehicles with a second smaller turbo that helps out at lower rpm's).

When is turbo lag really a problem? The only time I notice it is starting up, uphill, after a red light, with my ~10,500# of GCVW, while pulling our Escape 5.0TA. It's like a second, and if the guy behind me can't wait that long, then he needs chill pills. For passing or highway entry, it's not even sensible. As for the "slow to react transmission", ditto. Yes, it thinks about downshifts for ~1 second, but since I don't drive in competition with other drivers, that SMALL lag period means nothing to me.

That being said, seems like the trans does not lock up in lower gears, trailer mode or not. Trans temp goes up with high load, low speed, steep up and down driving, even when speeds are high enough in low to keep the engine spinning as fast as I want. Showing my ignorance here. Does the Allison tank transmission installed in the big guys lock up in lower gears?

In my opinion, Turbo lag is an overused term and it’s quite often mis-used. We have a tiny turbo and it spools very quickly and makes a lot of boost.

The truck is tuned by GM to not make puffs of black smoke. That’s why if you stomp it, the truck will not rip off the line. Roll into the throttle, it’s much more satisfying anyway. Stomping the pedal will always yield the same result, so just adjust your driving style.

If you want to smoke them off the line get a v8 gas truck.

Well put Rcd. And I might be an abuser of the "turbo lag" term. FMI, is the delay at least partially from the time it takes for the engine management system to figure out how to best respond to current vehicle conditions and my pedal pressure? That would actually make some sense....

After having my ECU reflashed and speed limit deleted in conjunction with an intercooler and water methanol injection upgrade, looks the 6L50E tranny cant cope up. In 6th gear, it goes to Limp mode 100kph after exceeding 135kph. Errors P0717, P0716, P0722, P0723 & P0711 light up one after the other. In 5th gear, it tops till 195kph at 3600rpm. Was wondering if anybody had same issues or had swapped the GM6L50E for a better tranny?

Sell the diesel truck and get a sports car.

Detune, or put piece of wood under your foot feed. When either buying new, or considering mods, I think of my use practices first, then handling/braking safety, then drive train durability, and ONLY then, engine power. Overworking your trans is strictly "Danger! Danger!", for both catastrophic failure and Goodman stress related life shortening. Not sure if Burgess159 is kidding or not. His recommends are actually correct (at least directionally - an Allison insert SEEMS more aspirational than practical), but in toto, they seem so radical, that, as a practical matter, a 2019 F150 diesel, or Titan 5.0 Cummins might be the best way to meet your needs....

Allison Transmission swap....might have to upgrade the suspension, and frame to handle the added weight too :)
This is full of crap. An Allison does not work in my truck. And yes I did try. Allison just blew up...

I told my friend Allison to get under my truck and turn the driveshaft. She didn’t take it well and went bezerk on me.o_O

I'm just kidding :) I don't think there is any way possible to get the Allison 1000 that is in the 2500/ 3500 HD Chevy's to fit in our truck and mate to the engine. It would more than handle the power though that our trucks can put out, tuned or stock. They are capable of handling the power of a 2500/ 3500 HD stock, and tuned (to an extent), so they would handle our little trucks. Unless Allison makes a smaller transmission though, I don't think there is a way to do this. Just wishful thinking is all.
