Hello everyone, First time post, I'm sure there are findings here somewhere in the forums.
I have a 2018 Chevy Colo Duramax. Absolutely love it. No problems yet.
It's been freezing lately here. Minus 31 this morning. Had it plugged in over night.
Truck fired right up, but I let it idle and run for over 30min before doing a long 1 hour drive. I got distracted while warm up in the morning...I know that's a long time.

Anyway, after about 10min down the hwy ( 110km/h ) I got the message ( remain driving..cleaning exhaust filter) I have seen this once before and went away fairly shortly after driving a while.
But today, message was on for probably 45 min ( solid driving at around avg 110km/h) then I got the code (engine power reduced ) and cleaning exhaust message went away. Got hte power down during a long uphill on hwy and slowed right down to fastest speed of 75km/h....scary when Transports trucks behind me honking ( I did put 4ways on)

Drove all the way back home like this. a good 1:15hr of driving. hope I didn't damage anything, Check engine light came on right when power reduced message started.
I'm assuming the filter is clogged and cannot regen or reset? I do only have 1/4 tank of gas left, and recent clean oil/filter change done also.

What a pain. It's the weekend, cannot take it anywhere, and need it for Mon morning to drive. Hoping I can do something tomorrow to fix or bypass.
Any ideas or help or past experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I'm wondering if the DPF can't get up to the proper temperature because of the -31 your dealing with. While running down the road that wind may be the issue. There's and app called Greto but you need a OBDii bluetooth adapter to plug into you OBD port. Others have used it to perform a "Service Regen" with success. I would go that route first. The question is if you don't have the bluetooth adapter can you find one locally that will work with Greto....

Let us know how you make out... Good luck
Thanks for that info. My Father has a OBD reader, not bluetooth...it spit out code P2463 + Diesel Particulate Filter Restriction - Soot Accumulation.

I just bought Diesel Particle filter cleaner from ( STP)...Put in tank.
Was able to erase that code....But then Got the "remain driving to clean exhaust filter " again...then after about 3min, I get the dreaded engine power reduced message and engine light again.
I assume erasing that code is not the same as what you mentioned about " Service Regen" ?
Thanks.

No it is not the same. The OBD bluetooth device is an interface between your phone and the truck. Once plugged into the OBD port and joined to your phone or tablet you can launch that Greto app. The "Service" Regen" if it lets you launch it will raise the RPM to around 2500 and will perform a regen. When the regen is happening you can't touch anything in the truck don't hit the brake pedal, put it in gear etc. basally just let it run it's course. It will take about about a half hour so make sure you have fuel in the truck when you start the process.

So truck is now complete limp mode after last fix because of stupid DEF system. Throwing more f%$#&&* codes, limp mode...Turns out its the heater line reductant? in def tank. No parts available for over a month...WHAT A JOKE THIS IS. Perfect truck, but stupid emissions and codes has trucked parked for over a month now. GM FIX THIS ASAP. Anyone know of a good supply of this part?.
Apparently my shop said there is a back log and part wont be available for maybe 6 weeks....WTF?
FULL delete time I think.
