i know it just screams Duramax, but when I pull that spare down for off-roading, that tip looks so vulnerable. Any reason that has to stay, or can that exhaust just take a bend and dump out behind the tire? I don't pretend to understand exhaust systems at all

Maybe look into the afe rebel dpf back system, it comes out in front of the rear tires.

The big exhaust tip with the Venturi openings draws in cool air. You want a cooled exhaust tip because during regen cycle, your exhaust temps can be well over 1000°F
