I was tuned and not deleted for a week. After losing the exhaust I did notice some difference. It’s hard to say though. It better but I don’t know that I can quantify it. I will say that I couldn’t turn the truck up on the two higher power modes (recommend by my tuner) until I deleted as the truck was still going through DPF cycles and he was worried it would cause the DPF to plug up faster running on the higher levels, so when I did delete and turn it up it made a difference in stomping on the pedal

The stock down pipe looks funny I believe (fat and chubby) because the CAT is part of it.

I’m glad I did already. I know you can tune only: my truck was tuned only for a week prior to deleting while I drove it trying to get it to go through a regen before removing the exhaust. It definitely ran much better tuned then not. I did notice some improvement after deleting but I believe the benefits will come from a vehicle that lasts longer because it’s not sucking up its own fumes. Doing the EGR delete will come eventually and I’m sure that will improve the truck even more but I’m going to do a catch can first: don’t want oil in the imtercooler or ice getting into the turbo in the winter months from frozen condensation.

And I have a garage but it’s cramped and I did it all myself. Took me 2-3 nights. I worked on it maybe 1 hour the first night, 2-3 the next and probably 6 on a Saturday. Would go faster with another set of hands and make some things easier but I got it done by myself.

Sticky FTW

How do you know your regen mode when there is no sign of it happening?
It got hard to tell after I tuned it. Usually I saw an mpg drop but I wasn’t seeing that. Thankfully, if you tune you should get an Autocal that also functions as a diagnostic tool. In the scan tool area, it will tell you Last Time since Regen in miles or Km, and also tell you the current state of Regen, either None or Soot Mass. At Soot Mass, it is going through a cycle.
