I have a humming drone noise around 1700-1800 rpm typically before the turbo comes on. It happens more often when the cruise control is set and it hits a grade that isn’t steep. I was wondering if this is normal. It has about 18k on it.

Im going to make an appointment to have a technician drive it at a dealership though.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Did you just now notice it or has it always been there? I mean, diesels do make some different noises than gas engines. I have a straight pipe on mine now after the delete so I just hear the drone of the exhaust.

A bearing was failing in my front differential. Problem solved.

Gotcha. Thanks for letting us know. Hard to believe it failed with only 18k on the truck.
