'17 LT CCSB, 97k. No warning signs of trouble, went to leave work Thursday and it just revved up and would barely go like it jumped out of gear. once it idled down little it felt like I was getting rear ended repeatedly. No warnings on dash. Turned it off and contemplated life. Buddy came back to work to pick me, tried it once more and it kinda repeated then proceeded to run like normal. Dropped it off at mechanics house to look at, he test drove the next morning and of course, could not replicate. Stayed home mostly over the holiday weekend, on Monday I did the fluid/filter change, was immediately worse until it got warm. Drove yesterday to work, only problem seemed to be a delay going in to 1st after shifting to drive. Same when I left home this morning. Drove 4 miles and had to stop at top of a hill, acted like it was in neutral. Shifted to low and selected 2nd gear, it wasn't happy about it but then drove normal. Made it about 16 miles before I had to do some stop and go, still no 1st gear. Taking off in 2nd, shifted to 3rd and 4th, then that's where it stayed.wouldn't up or down shift. 40mph all the way to the mechanics house where it will sit until I find a dang transmission I guess.

More then likely it's a bad solenoid or solenoid seals or bad TCM, I bet the trans itself is ok if you haven't experienced any prior trans problems.

Did you ever figure out what was going on with this?

I had a similar thing on my way to work this morning. Several times trying to get going from a full stop it acted like it was in neutral and then slammed into gear. Just took a 20 minute drive at lunch and could not replicate.

Plenty of other transmission related issues on this forum, but really anything about this specific issue. I did see another post saying it might be the wiring issue mentioned above causing the transfer case to go in and out of gear, but I cant find anything else on that.

This sounds crazy ... mine acted similar few years ago...

it'll cost nothing to check it

The trans fuse wasn't making good contact in the fuse box. One blade missed the cradle and would make intermitted contact.... fuse was good but just not making solid contact all the time

Do you happen to remember which fuse was for the transmission? Nothing is labeled transmission or tcm in the fuse descriptions in the manual. There is a transfer case fuse, but no transmission.

F13 on my under hood fuse box... TCM 15a
Thanks! I pulled that fuse, everything looked fine from what I could see, but without pulling the entire fuse box apart its hard to see what's going on underneath. Was your fuse just wedged in the wrong way? Or were the contacts below bent/ damaged somehow.

And a quick update, the problem seems to be getting worse. It will now go in and out of gear a bunch of time trying to get going from a stop, once I get moving over a few mph everything is normal, its just when I stop.

got to be frustrating ...

The contacts were not lining up in the panel.. IIRC I had to bend the blades slightly.. and use a flashlight anin my case magnifying glasses..

good luck... hope is nothing serious

Thanks for the replies and info. I can see marks from the contacts on both sides of the fuse, so unfortunately it doesn't seem like that's the problem. The mechanic is diagnosing it now, but they are pretty sure it needs to go to the transmission shop for a valve body replacement.
