Hello all and greetings from Northern California. We bought our 2017 Duramax Z71 when it became apparent that VW wasn’t going to bring their TDI camper van over anytime soon. We decided separate camping trailer and truck would work for our vacations just fine. I wasn’t sure my wife would go for fabric seats or the extra $$$$ of a Duramax. The salesman knew exactly what I was up against so he brought up two identical Z71s (V6 & diesel) and left the diesel idling. Naturally she fell in love with the sweet sound of the Duramax but mildly complained about the seats. He sent the truck to a local auto upholstery shop and a few days later we had leather. Last summer was spent hauling our 2800 lb. travel trailer up and down the west coast. It went out to Wyoming and Montana the each two previous summers. It is a great highway vehicle.
