Mine does that after sitting for long periods. It often goes 2 weeks without being used. It is mostly a long trip vehicle for us. Sometimes I forget to take it for a drive in between trips and it has gone as long as 3 weeks. When it sits for 3 weeks, the battery turns it over a little slower, too.

Lifter tic tips: When residues fill the lifter, it holds its chamber valve open, If its valve is up, its pressure pushes the oil under the lifter piston out.
Upon startup a space appears and upon rotation closes with a tick or tapping sound. Heat ma, flow again to liquify the muck, raising the piston adjuster for quiet operation. But, it often gets worst.

People don't know special products made for removing the muck, its cause and problem are available to end the tick, so you always have a quiet running motor. auto-tune-up-and-repair-options.com offers such products. Check it out. Hope this helps...gc
