since the weather is finally starting to cooperate a bit here in Ohio, thought it would be nice to be out in the garage and install a couple items on the Colorado. Installed a Lokar transmission dipstick ( still annoyed GM skimped on this) , installation was straight forward, although routing the dipstick around everything on the rt side of the engine compartment was trial and error for awhile. then went ahead and plumbed in a trans cooler. as I tow a small travel trailer ( 3500 lbs) and wanted a little insurance.

hey, Burgess159
I bought a lokar, part number XTD-36L80 FM36 purchased mine from Speedway Motors for $109, which is the 36" Lokar Black Stainless Steel version that is made to fit the 6L80 transmission. i had read that the 6L80 and our 6L50 uses the same black fill plug. it fit tight, no worries of it coming out or leaking, but I fabricated a bracket to make sure it stays put.

I had the same Lokar installed when I had my transmission flushed to remove any manufacturing debris at 7,000 mi. This is also where I am sampling the fluid for analysis every 3rd engine oil change.

After you install it set your fluid level per the normal procedure and just note where full is on the stick. This is just to insure you definitely know the trans is properly filled and have a known level marker on the new stick.
