What make of transmission is in the 2017 Canyon/Colorado with the duramax engine?
Bummer deal. This happens when shift valves are gummy and won't move. In serious case it may be internal pump seals leaking pressure to close clutches. Repairs are expensive, and the problem is annoying. Some have success with products for transmission Called MPRS3. A transmission service product made to end such problems using cleaners and conditioners. Source: auto-tune-up-and-repair-options.com Hope this helps. gc

The new ford ranger has the exact same axles as our trucks. M190 in the front and M220 in the rear. Both have hollow axle shafts and light weight axle tubes. The trans is a 6L50 that came from Punch Powerglide Industries in France. It was a GM subsidiary and that's why they still use the trans. The 6L50 in its basic form is in hundreds of different applications. From the Mahindra Roxor diesel to a russian UAZ Patriot. Including many other GM applications like the Camaro and some Cadillacs. Which is also why the bell housing is not apart of the main casting like most sole GM application transmissions. Its been around for a long time and even BMW uses the trans. As for the specifics of the GM version behind the minimax, I've only "heard" that it shares some internals from its bigger brother the 6L90. As for what? I don't know. Time will be the ultimate teller of the truth.

Contrary to popular belief, Allison does NOT make the transmissions in the 3/4 and 1 ton diesel pickups. The transmissions are manufactured by GM and are simply branded Allison. I believe this goes back to when GM actually owned Allison and sold it off, but retained rights to manufacture and sell the transmission with Allison's name on it. Check the GM full size forums and you will find many posts where guys have had issues with their transmissions and actually took it to Allison for repair and we're essentially laughed at and told their name is on it, but they have nothing to do with it. To My understanding is the 6L90 is very similar to the Allison branded transmission. The only major difference is in the clutch plates and cooling to handle the higher torque the Allison produces
