I have purchased my 2016 diesel new. I traded in a full-size long bed F150 for it. I wanted the smaller size truck while still being able to tow. However, I am now starting to think I needed that extra truck weight to help stop my boat (trailer has brakes) and an enclosed trailer (no brakes). I just had to replace my brakes, no pads on the rear and 40% left on the front. I have 72k miles on the truck and have no issues besides some little recalls. Besides upgrading the brakes to something of a heavier duty style and pure truck weight. Is there anything else I can do to help with stopping? I suppose I can use the exhaust brake. However, I did not want to shorten the life of the motor down shifting into a lower gear (i think that is how that works).
