Hi all. I bought a 2016 Z71 back in July to pull a small toy hauler. So far, I'm loving this truck. I took it from North Carolina to Ohio and averaged 30mpg. We just got back from a trip to the NC mountains hauling a 26 ft Gray Wolf toy hauler with our Can Am Spyder RT inside. It pulled OK, but I noticed some shudder in the transmission when shifting. After reading a few threads on here, it looks like I'll get the transmission fluid changed.

What is the best fluid for this truck?
Also, I guess if the fluid change doesn't fix it, then I'll need a torque converter? If so, what are the good "step up" in performance TCs, and where to get?

I'm new to the diesel scene, and relatively new to trucks.

Blue label mobile1 HP LV ATF. This is what GM uses to do fluid swaps when fighting shuttering.
Don't leave it that way for long because it will ultimately damage the TC lock up surface if it keeps shuddering.

While I do believe in the mentioned fluid , I question if GM dealers will actually use that fluid for the diesel /6 speed flush procedure, or just for the v6/ 8 speed

Best to call and clarify in advance

I asked 3 times. What I was told is if there is a report of shuddering, that is what they use. If it's just a run of the mill change, then they use a different synthetic. Both are fully synthetic, but the good stuff has a higher heat tolerance.
They changed it Thursday. So far, so good. It seems to shift smoother, but I never had the shuddering until I wa pulling the camper, so we'll have to wait till the next trip to judge that.
