New Truck on order

4427 Views 65 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  Iowa
Well Gen-2 kids, I've ordered a 23 Sierra Denali 3.0 LZ0 (a week ago). Who knows what the delivery time will be but when it comes in I will sadly be trading my Collie in for it. I really love this truck but I want some more interior elbow room when traveling and it will give me another 400 lbs of carry capacity. Not to mention, the 2023 LZ0 with 305 HP and 495 lbs ft of torque would be welcome too. :)

If any one is interested I have amongst other things:
Brand new, in sealed packages, NOX sensor 1 and 2 and a particulate sensor that I carried when traveling.
A brand new script (not the cheep Chinese one) gen2 grill I never installed. Was waiting for the other one to get beat up before installing.
Full AFE 3" stainless turbo back exhaust with Black Tip .......EDIT: chrome tip
If someone really wanted it, a used Titan 36 gallon fuel tank (I would have to remove it but if the price is right I will). Long bed owners only.
A brand new set of ProFab intercooler pipes (hot and cold side)
And probably some other stuff I've forgotten about...lol

EDIT: gen2 Helms usb service manual.

Shipping and packaging would be actual cost.
PM me if interested I can take pictures and so on.

Any truck yet SFL?
No, I figure I'll just be patient untill the 13th and go from there. I hope the cold snap / arctic blast doesn't effect the date.
Curious where it's built. The Colorado and GMC I know are produced in Wentzville Mo I believe.
Well I got this today

So now we'll see how it progresses from here.

Dude you got us in suspense 😂
Me Too!

Well I went to the dealer today. The sales manager looked it up and said it's been moved two days to Sunday the 15th. I did ask if it was assembled in the sates, and he said no in Mexico. So much for supporting American labor. He did say when they barge them in (baring storm season) the schedules are pretty accurate due to strict off loading schedules. It's scheduled to be in the Fort Lauderdale port on Friday and at the dealership on Sunday.

We shall see, fingers crossed.

Well here it is !!!! I got a call from the dealer yesterday evening and they said it's in. I was off from work and I only live about a mile away so I went in and did the deal (I love the color). I left the dealership went directly straight across the street to an Olive Garden cuz the wife was starving and went home when done. So in total I put about a mile on it so I can't really comment other then holly crap there's a lot of buttons and stuff to play with and figure out.

For those who were asking about dates, I ordered it on 11-4-22 and got the call on 1-13. I absolutely didn't want a sunroof and resigned myself to the fact I was getting one because the way GM does the option packages. I did get a call from the sales manager saying that sunroofs were on constraint and I said order it anyway. After a short dealership test drive the sales guy leaves the office and I look at the wife and said "Hey does that thing have a sun roof" we both laughed because neither of us looked to see during the test drive. She said I'm guessing "NO" and I said I'm guessing "YES" because I don't want it. She ran outside comes back in and says (HMMM I'm right and your WRONG guess your taking me out to dinner! lol

I'll throw up some more pics maybe later today.

That is one sweet looking rig. I think you did good waiting as they improved torque on that 3.0. It will more than pull anything you decide to pull. How does it accelerate?
I will be curious to hear about fuel economy.
Keep us posted.

That blue is beautiful! Something i am curious about, i have seen online reports that he LZ0's are being delivered 1 qt of oil over capacity because they like to burn 1-2 qts on break in. Curious if yours was and something to keep an eye on.

Thanks on the color

Yup I checked it this morning and it's at the point on the dip stick where the wire rope starts. So it's over filled by how much I don't really know.
A little update, I love this truck. I will miss the ease of parking the Collie but the 1500 really is way more comfortable. I expect to be doing some windshield time when towing the RV so comfort is important. The mileage is almost identical to the LWN (it's sitting at 27.4 average right now) but it's really got some get up and go. I dug into it on a back road in the middle of no where and it jumped to 105 like right now. I got out of it so I don't really know where the speedo lock is set. Some have said factory is 108 but as of now no direct conformation.

The 10 speed is really smooth and for those in the know it's shifts like a 2 stroke motocross bike except the power-band is everywhere. You don't feel the trans down shift at all and again up shifts are real smooth. The shift points are programmed where the should be and that's a nice change, all though the LWN was fine after the GDE trans tune was installed. I only have about 650 miles on it so far so that's about all I can offer at this point. I installed a Retrax tonneau cover last night which I really like and the 43 gallon Titan fuel tank was shipped out today.

Now for some meh moments.
#1 The multipro talegate is very functional and cool, but, if you have your hitch ball on and forget and open the center section and then drop the outer section it will most certainly ruin your day as it will crash right into the hitch.
#2 No overhead sun glass holder, pretty low cost item to omit. I will say the door pockets are much more functional and there is more general storage space all around. The center console has 4 cup-holders which I really like.
#3 The box under the rear seat is a lot smaller then the Gen2 box yet the seat is a lot larger. That was a WTF moment when I realized that. For me, not really a big deal as I didn't really use the under seat storage on the Collie but "come on GM". They could have extended the box another 12" for the whole width of the truck.

More to come along the way and a better pic below.

SFL , truck looks great love the blue. My 23 Silverado came in, but was damaged in transit. My boss who is paying for the truck told them he doesn't want it . So I am in a temp 23 Trail Boss with the 2.7L. Holy **** it really gets up and boogies for a 4 banger, feels like a V8, it is going to be great in the mid size trucks.
So I will wait a while for the new 3.0L to arrive. My boss was going to extend the lease on the 2021 3.0L, but it was having weekly DEF issues lately , and another injector quit ,so he was more than happy to return it.

Now doubt smokin that 4-bagger will be a smoke show. I could be wrong but I don't think they offer the 23 midsize with long box. Maybe I am wrong but still not convinced it will pull as civilized as the baby MAC. Sure probably faster and I will admit stronger, but noiser for sure.
