View attachment 4441 View attachment 4209 Apparently this was built by a Dealer for a Dealer promotion show that never took place ??
So as far as we know it is not a factory option.
Our dealer said they have never seen one like this and you can't order it. They got it in a trade from another dealer who had a customer that wanted a different color.
No problem we will take it. It wants to run back to Texas though. LOL

I'm not sure whats different but ? It has a locking tailgate that works with the key fob and the daytime running lights are like the ones on our 2016 High Country 1500 so it doesn't run the headlights in daytime it uses the turn signal marker lights for DLR..But it doesn't have LED headlights like the High Country did, It seems to have stuff that isn't available on the LT model from what I could find.
Like LED interior and cargo lighting , led fog lights. I guess these are things you can add aftermarket but I didn't have to. I can't find a Colorado LTZ in any build option but GMC offers an SLT in the Canyon and this is outfitted like that ? I wish it had cooled seats but it doesn't. I think only the GMC Denali has those. Beats me but I'll take it.I haven't seen any on the lots with a diesel badge on the front grill, only Z 71 and Z 2 truck emblems up front. ??? I looked at the LT's on the lot and they don't have a spot to put a badge, the fins would be too far apart to attach it properly. I may add a T Rex grill, but I guess it will fit over the badge ?
And it didn't come with a cowboy hat, We had to supply that LOL

Ok cool sounds like they did some aftermarket lighting upgrades for you and some rebadging. Good looking truck only thing I'd be weary about is the huge badge on the passenger airbag, I'd be a little concerned about it becoming shrapnel in the event of a deployment. There isn't a Colorado LTZ I think they just got the badges from a 1500 and put them on there along with the other extra badges. Might have went a little overboard, but that all comes down to personal taste and if you like it that's the only one that matters. Hope you enjoy the truck, I know I love mine.

The badging on the dash and air bags, "Good Point" "No Problem because I make my mother in-law ride shotgun. LOL Just kidding I asked the dealer about it and the body shop manager that does the airbag repairs said as long as it is below the halfway point down on the dash it won't be a problem in a deployment. The dash breaks open above the point where the badging is located when the airbag is deployed. So that portion below stays intact. He actually looked at it and said it was fine. But it would be easy to remove if we wanted to. Just use some dental floss to work them off.
I may remove the Texas emblem with the mountains and leave the Duramax badge on the dash and maybe put the Colorado lettering like on the doors over that emblem.
I will have to see how much the letters cost and if that might look better anyway.
Hope no one thinks I am messing with Texas by removing that badge LOL "You know " Don't mess with Texas" LOL
I wonder if I can add the LED switchback bulbs that run white as drl's and flash amber as turn signals without any other modification ? Anyone know ?
Love this truck.

I talked to Dealer again and they said that they think it came from the factory as an LTZ package. Apparently they can override and enhance a custom options package on just about any vehicle on the assembly line.
They do this for promotions and publicity or show on a vehicle that may be loaned to a magazine to have an article done about it. and such. Or for an executive with GM ?
So everything on it came from the factory except for the Texas badging and dash badging pin striping and cowboy decals over the 4x4 emblems.
I removed the mountain badging on the dash and left the Duramax badge and then added the COLORADO badge over top of it.
I think it looks cleaner that way.
I also added a T-Rex stainless grill. We absolutely love this truck it gets great mpg's.

I didn't realize it, but it already has the LED switchback type white DRL's and amber turn signal already. ??? Sorry it took me a while to respond on the post.
I put a mirror in the front wall of our garage about two weeks ago so I could park in just the right spot, and that's when I noticed the lights. LOL
Don't know if they are aftermarket or came from the factory. I wouldn't think they came from the factory since I have only seen them on Silverado's and such.
I may take a look down under the hood and see if it looks like a relocate harness was installed.
I didn't see the relays or resistors from a harness. But I didn't look that hard yet.

What are you doing with my truck?

How did you get the duramax emblem to stick on the grill? Is it simply with the tape backing?

Sorry it took a while to get back to you due to hurricane Maria visiting us.
To answer your question, I took the emblem off of the original grill which had a flat place on the original grill where the badge was fitted. I then put new double sided tape on the emblem and it stuck to the new T-Rex grill, The T-Rex grill will hold the badge OK because it has more fins and therefore more surface area. I am not sure I have seen another front emblem on another dmax. This one was already on the original grill when I got it like the Z 71 emblems are placed This truck is a bit of a mystery I added the T-Rex grill and then a homelink garage door opener on the headliner just behind the overhead courtesy light panel, I'll take a picture of the Homelink install when I can and then post it.
I also removed some of the badging on the passenger side dash and put the Colorado badging in it's place. Otherwise the truck came Loaded with everything else.
Oh also update ! I looked under the hood closer it had the switchback harness already installed it was done very neatly and hidden. The relays were back by the fuse box, I didn't notice them before I started looking closer. They looked factory. I went back to our dealer and looked under the hood of an LT and that's when I realized mine was different. That explains why this truck had the LED switchback White DLR's and Amber LED turn signals.
I thought the the low and high beam headlights were better than stock also. So I pulled them out and looked, to my delight they had upgraded those to Silver Star Ultra's. Don't know who did that. My dealer said they didn't do it . I couldn't imagine the factory doing that one ? ???This truck is a mystery but I am tickled about that. Also I did the barbed wire pin striping and cowboy hats right after I got the truck. "An old cowboy rancher thing" LOL
Other wise someone ? dropped quite a bit of money upgrading this truck.
It was a brand new untitled truck with 32 miles on it, it came from a nearby dealer to our dealer about 25 miles away I may go to the other dealer and see if I can solve this mystery a little better.
Oh it also came with a nice big long payment book LOL :)
But I bet everyone got one of those, if you paid cash $ and didn't get a payment book, let me know I'll send you our's.
Take care enjoy your trucks and drive safely.

DRL mod, locking tailgate via keyfob, all coming from the factory?!? I wish this was an option when I "built" my truck. These are expensive options that Im not looking into, much rather would have opted to repay this under my loan :p
