Hey All,
I am picking up my new Colorado Z71 tonight and looking forward to it. The only concern I have at this time is that some people are reporting that their diesels are lemons? Is there anything I need to look out for before I sign papers this evening and bring my truck home? I have a 45 minute commute to work each day(one-way) and I am excited to test the limits of getting 30/mpg in a truck, hopefully I get that!. I have been commuting with a camry the last 5 years getting anywhere between 32-35 mpg...but to have a truck be able to get 30 would be a dream come true. I also pull a 2700lb RPOD camper in the summer and looking forward to using this truck for that also. I am looking forward to using this forum for my advantage and getting to know you all!

If it's a new truck, there's nothing for you to look for. You have the GM warranty. You could get an extended warranty, but unless it specifically says in the extended warranty (which are generally third party ones and not one sold by GM. The dealership may sell it to you, but it probably won't be an actual GM warranty) that it "Covers defects to exhaust and emissions systems," I wouldn't get it. As that is generally what is the cause for the majority of the problems that make our trucks "lemons." I made the mistake of assuming the extended warranty I purchased covered said items and I was wrong. I found out a year and a half after and sold it back to them and got most of my money back.

Now, if this is a used truck, then there may be some things to look at.
