Problems After Delete

Anybody run into problems after getting a delete? My truck will now at times somewhat shutter then spew out white smoke from the tailpipe. The truck isn't showing any codes and my tuner has tried multiple tunes and have now landed on stock tune and the problem persists. Has anyone experienced such a thing?

White smoke is usually a sign of burning coolant, has your coolant level been dropping? Need some more info to better help.

Who tuned it?
What power level?
Mileage on the truck?
Year?
When you say landed on stock, you mean stock power level but still deleted im assuming?
Who tuned it? Crazy On Highway

What power level? Unknown, I just asked for a safe tune with a preference for economy

Mileage on the truck? Currently just over 90,000kms/56,000miles but the problem started right after deleting it at 84,0000kms/52,000miles

Year? 2018

When you say landed on stock, you mean stock power level but still deleted im assuming? Yes that is correct. The last time he sent for me to try was stock power levels but only with the proper sensors turned off to trigger any codes

And to provide further information. At the stock tune level, it rolls coal pretty significantly. I’m not sure if all 2.8l roll coal like that with a stock tune but if so, GM really should have cleaned up the tuning before releasing these to the public. Seems like a lot hp and fuel economy being dumped out the tailpipe.

It should not be rolling coal at a stock power level even when deleted. Check for boost leaks, could have a torn intercooler pipe boot.

But i am more concerned about you saying it rolls white smoke. Have you checked your coolant res yet to see if it is dropping?
Did you install EGR blocking plates? I had similar issues. No EGR codes on the reader but the valve was stuck open. Valve was supposed to be held shuy electronically. Blocked the EGR and it's a different truck. Odds are the faulty EGR valve was causing the issues that made me delete in the first place.

EGR plates on order fingers crossed it’s this easy of a fix.

EGR plates installed and I’ve taken it for a couple good test drives and the problems seem to be resolved. Thank you all.

Have you reloaded the first tune file you received? Should drive really well with the original file now that the EGR issue is fixed. Does your tuner use CCS for their tunes?
No I haven’t tried any of the tunes he’s sent me yet. It’s been a real process trying to transfer tunes to the truck. I had to buy a new USB cable right off the bat and I still get EFI Live error codes when trying to transfer codes from the laptop to the Autocal. I end having to get him to remote link to my computer and he finagles the tune on it somehow.

I think he writes his own tunes from what I could tell. All communications with this guy is through email which I’m not a fan of but he came recommended through the FB community. I also thought he was relatively local to me but I now question where he’s actually based out of.

I’m planning to load his tunes on when I’ve got some time and I’ll report back with the results.

The guy tuning your truck isn't the guy who used to be "offroad truck store" is he?

I’m not sure if he’s had other companies or not. I just saw on FB that a few people had good results with him and his prices were reasonable so that’s why I chose him
has anyone had an issue with the inner cooler side blowing out? Have replaced 5 inner coolers in 4k miles, keep thinking the problem is solved, and then for no reason, inner cooler blows up? Replaced the MAP sensor, seemed to help but 3k later did it again.?? anyone have any answers? thanks

Are you talking about the intercooler hoses or the intercooler itself?
After a delete, had about 2k miles on the vehicle when the side of the inner cooler blew out. Made a few adjustments and 200 miles later it happened again, did this 5 different times with the same results. Changed out the MAP sensor, went 3000 miles and it did it again, each time replacing the inner cooler with a new one. No one seems to be able to help, have had 3 different garages try to fix this. Any answers from anyone would be of help. Thank you, Oh, 12k total on this vehicle now, so not many miles for 2016, is always broken.

I'm having the exact same issue as OP with my truck after I loaded a CCS sport/eco tune this past weekend. I'm curious why you asked if it was CCS, did you have similar issues with a CCS tune?

Yes. I don't think he closes the egr valve

I finally got ahold of CCS tuning department yesterday. They told me to unplug the throttle body sensor, and the EGR sensor, which would cause the throttle body plate to stay wide open. Once I unplugged both, it ran great. He said he thought their instructions said to unplug the sensors, and he will make sure to update them.
I'll email and ask for a copy of those instructions. I emailed him a few months back with my issues and it mostly fell on deaf ears.
