I know the transmission did that on my 21 3.6L. Clunked at startup, changing into drive and reverse; especially when cold at first startup. That was the major reason why I traded it in a month ago and got a new 21 duramax. So far, so good!

I have a 2018 Canyon 2.8 with 76k miles. As of late it has started to make a single “clunk” sound when starting. Runs perfectly fine otherwise. Any thoughts on what this could be? Cause for concern?
Thanks!
It could be a bad motor mount and the torque of starting tweaks the engine enough to produce the noise.Hello all,
