Hi All,

First post. I’ve been lurking and learning for a while and I was all ready to make my purchase. Such a sad experience.

I walked into the Chevy dealership last night all ready to order a new Z71 long box diesel. I’ve looked around and the configuration in leather I’m looking for I can’t seem to find so decided to just order one. I had decided on the color I wanted after narrowing the search down from 3 potential colors.

I work out a price I’m happy with and the General Manager goes to order it up. Then he says, “uh-oh”. First color I wanted, Cajun Red Tintcoat, not available, can’t be ordered. So I said, “I also kind of like the Pacific Blue Metallic”, he tried that, same thing, not available, can’t be ordered. I say, “my third color which is OK but not really what I was looking for is Shadow Gray Metallic”, not available, can’t be ordered. He tries White, Black and a Silver and they are all available so there’s nothing wrong with the system. I’m like there’s only 10 colors available and at least 3 of them I can’t get? I know from a Chevrolet standpoint they have been building the 2020’s since probably July but from the customer standpoint I’m like, it’s January 2020 and I can’t get the colors I want in the beginning of the year?

Oh, and the “Safety Package” is also not available. What the heck? Can’t get the options to help me from getting into an accident? Just so sad GM’s not at all focused on their customers. I know they have their 7 year cycle but still, there’s 2 more years until the 2022 redesign and they are running out of options and colors in 2020?

Being nearly a 40 year GM loyalist purchasing my first car at 15 I can’t even believe I’m considering looking at Dodge or Ford eco diesel’s or maybe a Nissan with the Cummins.

All ready to give them $45K and I walk out totally disappointed. Not the dealers fault as they clearly wanted to sell me that truck but corporate and purchasing made it a terrible experience.

It’s not just the colors......
Canada was last to get the diesel Colorado Canyon twins. And when they finally started to arrive at the dealers they were not willing to deal. Pay full sticker or go away....
All the dealers in the USA got these trucks first. While us in Canada had to read about them on forum like this. It took a long time to get them here. I found just what I wanted on a dealer lot. The only diesel Colorado on the lot......

I am not a fan of Ram trucks
But
the third generation Eco diesel might be the way to go...
Important = 3rd gen.......

It really is just so sad. Bad enough most of the time you are forced to buy what someone things you want from the lot but when you try to order exactly what you want you are told it's not available. I'm still dumbfounded that at least 30% of the color choices they have listed on their website are not available. I just don't get it.

I can't imagine how they could have fouled things up that badly. The inventory management system should just order another red truck when it sees that red trucks are running low. Also, why can they not put in an order for a red truck or whatever color? Seems like a bunch of retards are running the show.

I agree with you. I have plenty of friends who have ordered exactly what they want and received it. I've done it in the past with other manufacturers but never GM. The General Manager that was trying to help me admitted that sometimes stock runs low and they won't let you order a certain color or option until it becomes available but said it was very strange that 3 colors are out. He said he'll check from time to time when ordering Colorado's by clicking Cajun Red and give me a call when/if it allows him to order it. I thanked him and said I really do hope they get some more before I get frustrated and buy from another manufacturer. I'm pretty sure those same colors are available on other vehicles in other divisions within GM. If true someone really screwed the pooch as they say with this one.

On January 10 I bought a Canyon diesel blue . the next week the order have been confirned .
One month later the order have been cancel because of the diesel engine was BO .
They tried to sail me an other Canyon that they have in their parking but the color was not in my choice so they looked in other GM dealer and they haven't founded any blue .
So they gave me my account back . I use Google and the postal code area to find all GM dealer and looked by my self and surprising I founded the bleu one i wished . So I take the phone and by it right a way . Almost the tag price but that is the last 2020 blue Canyon on the market .
There is a possibility that the corona virus was already in Taiwan and they stop the production of the baby duramax .
They were supposed to built the 2020 until the end of march and the blue is not in the 2021 list .
The Canyon was in Cambridge Ontario , I took the plane from Québec city to Toronto than a bus to Cambridge and come back the next day ( A 900 kms break-in trip ) .

The baby Duramax factory was sold to a Chinese automotive company. I have not seen information on where or if the 2.8 will continue to be produced. With this Kung Flu thing it may not be a priority.

The Thailand plant is the facility at which the 2.8 liter Duramax diesel is produced.
